Ultralight Minimus Adventure Leash & Mad Man Collar Review
The Mad Men Ultralight Minimus Adventure Leash is ideal for those who value minimalism and lightweight gear, perfect for adventures where every gram matters. Weighing just 29 grams, this ultralight leash can easily fit in a pocket, making it highly convenient for on-the-go use.
The soft, odor-resistant polyester webbing handle makes it comfortable to hold onto the leash. Most of the leash is made from 7/64-inch UHMWPE rope, known for its strength. It comes in 4-foot or 6-foot lengths.
It is important to note that this leash is not designed for strong pullers or situations requiring tight control, as holding onto the rope section could be difficult and may cause rope burn. Instead, this leash is best suited for off-leash adventures when leashing up is only needed occasionally and for dogs who are great with loose-leash walking.
The Mad Men Collar complements the leash with its soft, odor-resistant polyester webbing and a strong Duraflex® buckle. It is highly adjustable and comes in sizes small to large.
While using this set for months, the collar didn’t fade and kept its beautiful colors, however, it had signs of minimal fraying on the edges which is common with polyester collars. Another problem with this material is that the collar loosens up over time especially if the dog pulls so we needed to re-adjust it regularly.
When used off-leash, this shouldn’t be a problem but it’s something to keep an eye on to ensure the dog cannot slip the collar.
Ultralight Leash & Collar Set
Beautiful but practical
A strong and durable leash and collar set that can fit in your pocket.
Riptrail Adventure Leash Review
The Riptrail Adventure Leash is a unique packable leash option. It is designed for practicality and versatility, making it an excellent choice for the trail or emergency use. When not in use, it can be stowed away in its bag making it easy to attach to a backpack. When you need it, just attach the carabiner to the collar or harness, open the other end, and grab the leash.
Weighing only 25 grams and measuring 5 feet in length, this leash offers a perfect balance of weight and control. Its compact design includes a built-in storage bag that doubles as a waste bag carrier for long walks and trails. The reinforced webbing handle is an easy solution for comfortably holding onto the leash without adding weight to it.
Constructed from durable diamond rip-stop nylon, commonly used in high-end hammocks, and featuring heavy-duty stitching, the Riptrail leash offers strength and versatility.
Similarly to the UltraLight Leash above, this is not a leash to be used for strong pullers or for situations where short leash control is required as holding onto the middle section of the leash is not comfortable. It was designed for adventures where you want to bring a leash along but the dog is allowed off-leash. It is also a smart option if you want to keep a second leash on you for emergencies.
Riptrail Adventure Leash
A smart and packable leash
A super lightweigh leash option when every gram matters
Review Summary
The WildKai product line is designed for adventures where every grammar matters and they are smartly designed for the needs of this niche. They offer durable, functional gear catered towards the needs of long-distance hikers or dog owners who spend a lot of time in areas where the dogs are off-leash.
It is a great experience walking a well-behaved dog with these ultralight leashes but we need to keep in mind that it is not ideal for pullers, reactive dogs, or dogs who need to be managed closely while on leash.
