About the Ruffwear Mt. EverRest Elevated Dog Bed

The Mt. Everest Dog Cot is a portable elevated bed for outdoor adventures.

It is lightweight and easy to set up thanks to its one-piece frame made of shock-corded aluminum poles that work the same way as similar tent poles. The frame is strong and stable, with non-slip feet ensuring it stays secure as your dog climbs on and off.

The bed’s topper is made from partially recycled materials with a microsuede surface that is both soft and durable. It provides a comfortable, slightly cushioned feel similar to a camp chair, allowing dogs to snuggle in after a long day. It is water-repellent but not waterproof and can be machine-washed separately.

The cot’s weight, (2.6 lbs / 1.2 kg), makes it easy to carry, especially with the included storage bag that comes with a shoulder strap. The storage bag also fits conveniently on the cot’s frame during use.

The cot’s overall dimensions are 30 x 38 x 8 inches (76 x 96 x 20 cm), and it can support dogs up to 70 pounds (32 kg). It was a very comfortable size for Zulu and could definitely handle larger dogs.

Ruffwear Mt. EverRest Dog Elevated Bed Review

The Ruffwear Mt. EverRest Cot came just in time for our camping trip which provided the perfect opportunity to test it out in a real scenario. I loved all the materials used for this bed: it does feel high-quality and innovative compared to other elevated beds we have used before.

While the bed packs up easily and the storage bag makes it easy to transport, the poles do not collapse as small as some other options on the market. The bed is still very lightweight but if storage space is your main concern, measure out to see if this will work for your needs.

While the microsuede is a bit higher maintenance material for camping as a simple mesh, it does seem to provide a more comfortable surface for dogs who like to snuggle in beds. I like that it sags just enough to provide comfort while still supporting the dog. The bed is stable enough that it is not moving when Zulu is getting on and off. The non-slip legs also work great on hardwood surfaces as well.

The aluminum frame is indeed very light and still sturdy - it is a great experience to just snap the pieces together without any tools needed!

The only issue with ours was adding the microsuede top. In theory (as shown in this video) one would simply need to pull the top over the four poles in the corners but the sizing was such that the last corner was incredibly hard to stretch enough to pull over the forth corner. I was hoping this would get easier over time but so far I have not - however, this also proves that the material doesn’t stretch much over time even with regular use. This assembly issue might just be a unique issue with the bed we received as I have not heard this complaint from others.

Even though the top is made using microsuede, it seems durable enough to handle some scratching and it doesn’t have any visible damage from Zulu jumping on and off all the time. It is not as quick to dry and easy to clean as a mesh material but that is a tradeoff for comfort and being able to machine wash it mostly makes up for that. We have only washed it once so far so I don’t yet have information on how it holds up with washing over time.

Ruffwear Mt. EverRest Dog Elevated Bed Review Summary

The Mt. EverRest Cot is a very sleek-looking, lightweight bed. The frame’s assembly is quick and very satisfying when everything snaps in place! Zulu can be weirded out about different surfaces but she really likes the soft top of this bed and seemed to be very comfortable sleeping in it.

I would especially like this bed for cooler weather camping when we don’t need breathability under the dog as this seems to be the perfect bed to cuddle on with a sleeping bag!
