OneTigris is a tactical-style outdoor gear store selling all kinds of products, from airsoft gear to affordable military-style dog harnesses. Today we are reviewing their new dog sunglasses.

Why would a dog need goggles?

While many people think dog sunglasses are just for a cool look, they serve an important purpose for many dogs. Dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, biking, or boating trips, or have sensitive eyes can benefit from wearing protective eyewear.

UV rays can cause long-term eye damage to dogs, just as they do to humans, and dogs with light-colored eyes are particularly sensitive to bright sunlight. Sunglasses can also help dogs with medical conditions like pannus, dry eye, or recent eye surgeries that require additional protection from environmental elements and UV exposure. In windy or dusty environments, sunglasses can also shield a dog’s eyes from debris, reducing the risk of injury or irritation.

Goggles or sunglasses can also help dogs who enjoy sticking their heads out of car windows, protecting their eyes from flying debris while allowing them to enjoy the breeze safely. OneTigris Dog Sunglasses Review

The OneTigris Dog Sunglasses are designed to protect your dog’s eyes while providing a comfortable and secure fit. These sunglasses feature polycarbonate lenses with UV400 protection, effectively blocking harmful UVA and UVB rays while reducing glare from surfaces like water, snow, and pavement. The lenses are also shatterproof, adding durability for active dogs exploring rugged terrain.

The frame is made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which provides a flexible yet sturdy structure that contours to your dog’s face. The design includes a breathable sponge frame that adds cushioning and enhances comfort while allowing airflow to reduce fogging during use.

To ensure a secure fit, the sunglasses have adjustable dual straps. One strap wraps around the back of the head, while the other goes under the chin, keeping the glasses in place. The straps feature a quick-release buckle for easy on and off, and they allow for adjustment to accommodate different head shapes and sizes. The OneTigris Dog Sunglasses also come with a solid case, making them easy to pack away when not in use.

They are available in two sizes (Medium and Large) and come in black color.

Zulu is wearing the medium size and it fits her pretty well and she got used to them easily - although she was previously conditioned to Rexspecs but we haven’t used them for a long time. These goggles feel well-made and come at a significantly lower price point than other options on the market.

How Do the OneTigris Dog Sunglasses Compare to Rex Specs?

Rex Specs are well-known in the dog gear world for their high-quality build and replaceable lenses, which is a major advantage since lenses on any dog goggles will get scratched over time with regular use. This feature allows owners to extend the lifespan of the goggles without needing to replace the entire unit, making Rex Specs a strong long-term investment for dogs who need frequent eye protection. Rex Specs also offer a wide range of color options, while the OneTigris sunglasses currently come in one color only.

In contrast, the OneTigris Dog Sunglasses do not offer replaceable lenses, which means scratches will impact the usability of the glasses over time. However, they come at a significantly lower price point, making them a budget-friendly option for those who only need sunglasses for occasional use, for a short-term medical need, or for owners looking to start training their dogs to wear goggles to see if they are a good fit before investing in a higher-end pair.

Overall, the OneTigris Dog Sunglasses are a practical entry-level option for exploring dog eye protection, while Rex Specs remain the go-to choice for those needing a durable, long-term solution with replaceable lenses.
