Non-stop Dogwear was founded in Norway only ten years ago, and today you can find their products in over 1,000 stores in 22 countries. We love their passion for designing durable and quality products to “release their potential,” as their slogan says.
The Rock Collar is a sturdy, minimalistic, but still unique collar designed to handle all seasons and adventures. We used it in rain and snow, and also on warm days. It got soaked, it got all muddy, Mia ran through dense woods while wearing it, and it still looks new after a rinse.
The HexiVent mesh material makes this collar truly unique. This is the same material that Non-stop used for their Ultra harness that we reviewed before. It is a durable but breathable material that doesn’t soak in any water and is super easy to clean.
This collar doesn’t have a buckle rather a limited-slip design. The martingale collar allows some tightening while making it easy to slip it over the dog’s head when putting it on.
The collar is well-made and stylish, down to the smallest details.
To make it more visible, it has a 3M reflective lining running around the edge of the collar.
The only sign of wear that we noticed on the collar is the scratches on the leash attachment point, which is expected with any painted rings after months of use. The matte grey/silver top color makes these scratches barely visible unless you closely examine the ring.
The Rock collar became one of our favorite collars to use. It is easy and quick to put on or remove, so I kept choosing this one over other collars. We got many questions about it from others because the unique material makes it very interesting-looking.
I also liked the width of this collar; it is not too wide on Mia to be used as a casual collar while it also doesn’t get lost in her fur. The HexiVent material makes it super lightweight; our size 45 collar only weighs ~50 grams (1.7 oz).
The Rock Leash is a minimalistic but durable and practical Nylon leash.
It has a matte twist-lock carabiner for extra safety. You need to twist the black part of the clip to open it to avoid it opening accidentally. This makes it a little cumbersome to use in a setting where you switch between on, and off-leash walks regularly, but it can be done quickly once you got used to it.
The leash also has a 3M reflective stripe on both sides to make it visible at night.
The leash comes in four colors: black, blue, orange, and purple; and three sizes: 10 mm / 1.5 m [0.4 inch, 4'11”]; 15 mm / 1.5 m [0.6 inch, 4'11”] and 20 mm / 1.7 m [0.8 inch, 5'7”]).
We got two leashes; the purple is the smallest, the orange is the biggest size. Mia isn’t a large dog or pulls much on the leash, so I don’t have any trouble using the thinner leash for our everyday walks, although it is better suited for smaller dogs.
As you see below, all leashes come with the same size carabiner. They are lightweight, but I imagine they might be a little bulky on a tiny dog.
The Rock leash is a very simple and practical leash that’s easy to clean with a quick handwash. It is not waterproof, but the thin nylon material doesn’t soak in much water. The con of this nylon material is that the leash is a little “slippery,” doesn't provide a great grip if you have a large dog pulling on it, and you are trying to hold them back by grabbing the middle of the leash instead of holding only the handle.
I like that the carabiner adds a little extra to the minimalistic design.
We need to mention that the purple Rock leash is a different shade of purple than their purple Ramble harness, which I know annoys many people. I expect this is also true for their purple Line harness, although I haven’t seen that in person.
While we received the Rock collar months ago, the Rock leash only arrived recently. We will keep using the leashes and update the review if we run into any issues with the material or the carabiner!
