The Details of the Non-Stop Dogwear Glacier Wool Jacket 2.0

The Glacier Wool Jacket 2.0 is a durable and comfortable winter jacket for dogs, designed to keep them warm and dry in harsh weather. The jacket features a windproof and waterproof (10.000 mm) outer layer, a recycled ECO insulation mid-layer (80-100g/m2), and Ulvang 80% wool lining, which provides comfort and regulates body temperature.

The jacket is developed for active adventure dogs, with functional features such as drainage holes on the chest piece, and adjustable cinch points for a perfect fit.

If the jacket gets a little dirty, it can be rinsed or brushed off before the stain has a chance to sink in. It is machine washable but make sure to use the wool program and a wool detergent. Do not tumble dry, or you’ll risk damaging the jacket.

The wide and elastic leg straps prevent the jacket from lifting in high winds, and reflective details provide visibility in low-light conditions.

The coat has two covered leash openings: one for the collar or a harness with an attachment point close to the neck, the other on the middle section of the dog. Below the first one is pictured while you can find the second one behind/under the chest strap.

Mia tested the Glacier 1.0 Jacket so I was looking forward to comparing how the 2.0 design is different and how the wool lining looks in real life.

The design of the 1.0 and 2.0 is basically the same but the sizing got updated a bit. One of the most significant differences between the two versions is the removal of the rubberized mesh chest piece, which now adds better insulation around the dog’s chest.

Mia fell between sizes, and we opted for a larger coat, which resulted in the 1.0 being a bit on the baggy side. Meanwhile, Zulu was also in between sizes, but we decided to downsize for her. Currently, the size 45 fits her perfectly, although she is still growing and may need a larger size next year.

The width of the chest piece, the two cinch points, and the cut-up design for free-shoulder movement all make it a great fit for most dogs. We used this coat for many winter walks, including long off-leash hikes. The leg loops are wide, loose, and elastic enough to prevent chafing while keeping the jacket securely in place even on very windy days.

The outer material is very sturdy, it handled Zulu’s romps through the woods showing no signs of wear or scratches so far.

The inner wool lining feels very soft (not itchy) and makes the coat non-static which adds to the overall comfort of the dog and minimizes the hair sticking to it. Additionally, the lining has proven to be highly durable and resistant to wear and tear, even with the added friction from wearing the coat over harnesses.

The outer layer is waterproof and it keeps the dog dry, but that doesn’t mean that the water beads up on the surface. This coat is designed for cold weather so it’s more created to withstand cold and wins than rain - but it can handle that too. The wool would soak up the water but one of its great properties is that it still does a good job insulating even when wet and it also dries fast!

Review Summary

The Non-Stop Dogwear Glacier Wool Jacket 2.0 is an excellent quality coat that is both lightweight and easily packable. It proved to be highly effective during our long hikes, even on days with sub-zero temperatures as low as -4 F (-20C) and the coat did a good job to keep Zulu warm. At the same time, it’s not overly warm for days just around the freezing point.

I am impressed with how well the lining has held up, still looks new despite heavy use. The coat’s design and functionality are also great for adventure dogs when you need a coat that keeps the dog warm and you don’t need to worry about them ripping it in the woods.

For reference, Zulu is wearing the size 45 Glacier Wool Jacket.
