Non-stop Dogwear was founded in Norway only ten years ago, and today you can find their products in over 1,000 stores in 22 countries. Their focus is on pulling harnesses, and other equipment for skijoring, canicross, etc., but they also offer dog jackets, collars, leashes, and other products.
The Details of the Non-Stop Dogwear Fjord Raincoat
Fjord Raincoat is a relatively packable, sturdy jacket perfect for autumn/spring adventures.
This wind and waterproof (15.000 mm) raincoat provides excellent coverage with multiple adjustment points without restricting the dog’s movement. It also has a harness opening on the back with an overlay that prevents rain from getting in.
There is an elastic loop to customize the fit of the back end of the coat to properly “hug” the back legs and customize the fit for differently shaped dogs.
It is made of polyester with a 3-layer membrane. The outer shell is durable to handle all adventures, while the coat is still breathable (5.000 mm) to keep the dogs comfortable in every weather.
The jacket has a few smart features, like drainage holes on the chest section preventing water from gathering under the rain jacket. They also added a beautiful plastic buckle matching the jacket’s colors, while a velcro loop on the adjustable strap secures any excess strap.
The jacket has wide elastic leg loops that go around the back legs to keep the coat in place in strong wind or just when the dog is running around off-leash.
Non-Stop Dogwear Fjord Raincoat Review
The Fjord Raincoat is a thin and light but durable jacket. It is very packable, making it easy to bring it along for a hike or road trip. Zulu is very gear-shy, but she got used to this raincoat quickly since it fits her well, is lightweight, and doesn’t restrict her movement. It covers the shoulders and the chest well, while the cut-up design allows free movement for the front legs.
Zulu is a very hard-to-fit dog with her proportionally deep chest and slim waist and neck, but this jacket fits her very well and stays in place perfectly. The neck section can be pulled up to provide more protection, and the stripes at the end of the coat are reflective for low-light visibility.
The chest piece is wide but not as wide to rub or chafe the inside of Zulu’s front legs. It also has reflective lines to make the dog visible even when sitting down.
The only problem we encountered while using this coat is that the water-repelling layer stopped repelling after a few uses without the coat ever being cleaned (which can destroy the repelling layer). The jacket is still waterproof; Zulu stayed dry under it even when used on long walks in the rain. However, the coat needed to be dried after each use instead of just shaking off the raindrops.
The Non-Stop Dogwear Fjord Raincoat is a light raincoat that’s still breathable, making it perfect for autumn/spring outings where the dog doesn’t need a warm layer, but we still want to keep them dry. It is very easy to clean, packs up small, and is made of a durable material that can handle running through the woods.
