Two years ago we reviewed their AutoBreak Leash that intended to make retractable leashes safer and today we will discuss their other retractable leash that has two built-in lights!

The FIDA LED Retractable Dog Leash
The FIDA Retractable LED Lighted Dog Leash is designed to improve safety and convenience during walks. This leash stands out with its built-in lights: a headlight and multi-color ambient side light. The headlight ensures clear visibility in low-light conditions with a beam that is directed forward, while the side lights keep the human visible from various angles. They are powered by a rechargeable battery, which fully charges in about 2 hours and provides up to 6 hours of continuous lighting.
The leash comes with a 16-foot tangle-free tape leash made of reflective webbing, designed to support dogs weighing up to 40 kgs / 88 pounds. The leash features a one-handed brake, lock, and release system that is easy to use and switch and its anti-slip handle provides a secure grip during walks.

FIDA LED Leash Review
This LED Leash arrived just in time for dark winter walks and we used it a lot over the last months. Zulu has great leash skills so I like to use retractable leashes for evening walks when I don’t want to let her off leash in the dark due to the aggressive coyote population in the area.
I liked the lock/stop button on the top which feels bigger than on many other retractable leashes. It is easy and smooth to use and the brake is applied swiftly (it does not have the AutoBrake feature like their other leash).
While they added smart cut-ups to the front opening to prevent the tape leash from getting stuck, it tends to still do that if the dog is lagging behind and then passing to go to the front. To be fair this is a common issue with tape leashes that I have experienced with all tape leashes we have used in the past.
Having the two lights on the leash makes this leash a really cool addition to evening walks, especially if you walk by roads without much light. The front light is pretty focused so I can keep it on the dog to keep her visible when someone walks by or to see what she is sniffing in the dark. It is also incredibly helpful when you need to pick up dog poop in the dark - it makes that process so much easier that I don’t need to use the light on the phone while holding the leash and the poop bag.
The side light is pretty neat and you can rotate through a couple of color options. You also have the option to only have one of the lights on but you need to rotate through options by tapping the side of the light.
Altogether, this leash is a unique and cool option if you walk in the dark and need extra visibility. It will have the pros and cons of all retractable leashes which mainly comes down to choosing the right gear for the right dog and understanding how to use them safely. Based on its strength testing I wouldn’t use this for large, strong dogs to pull or potentially lunge but I also wouldn’t recommend using any retractable leash for these dogs.
