Why is Interactive Play with Our Dogs Important?

Tugs, chaser toys, and retrieve are great ways to engage with our dogs, build a relationship and teach many different skills and tricks through playing. These games can also tire them both mentally and physically in a short session. Spending time with actively playing with our dogs strengthens the bond between humans and dogs, which is the basis of any other training or sport in the future.

Different Types of Enrichments

Enrichment activities address different instinctual needs, like chewing, sniffing, and digging to reduce stress and make the dogs happier. Enrichment can be training new tricks or starting a new sport, walking in a different environment, letting them sniff in a park, or walking on different surfaces.

We received three unique muzzles for testing that we wanted to introduce in a separate article before writing their reviews.

Muzzle training is crucial to ensure the dog will be comfortable wearing the muzzle in the future. Many think that putting a muzzle on a dog without introducing it properly will magically solve their problems, but it is more complex than that. Muzzle training can take from a few days to a few weeks, and it ends when the dog willingly puts their face in the muzzle (or doesn’t mind you putting it on) and doesn’t try to remove it.

When picking her up, we needed to take a flight home. Since I had never had a small dog, I had no experience flying with one in the cabin and was anxious to find as much information as possible. After our successful flight, I wanted to summarize our experiences to help others prepare.

Dog Goggles

Did you know that most dogs end up with eye problems by the time they are eight years old? And did you know many of these could be prevented by using goggles?⁠

Mia doesn’t wear a collar at home to avoid any chances of getting stuck on something while unattended. However, I like to have the contact information on her in the car or while on a walk. I am never concerned about her running away or not coming back to me, but anything can happen, and it’s better safe than sorry. If we get into a car accident, she might get out of her crate and run away in panic. If she has a seizure, she might start panicking and gets confused before recovering completely. She might be attacked by dogs/coyotes and get lost while running away from them. Or something I haven’t considered for a long time: I could also lose consciousness/get into an accident dropping her leash in a busy area.
