In a Discovery Kit, you will find a selection of dog toys, treats, and accessories. The toys are designed to engage and stimulate the dog’s instincts, promoting physical activity and mental stimulation.
In addition to the assortment of toys and treats, the Discovery Kit goes beyond other subscription boxes on the market by including educational materials and resources to enhance your understanding of your dog’s needs and behaviors. These provide insights into dog behavior, current researches, or health tips - all around the theme of the box, to help us become more informed and responsible pet owners.
Another unique feature of the Discovery Kit is the inclusion of interactive elements. Besides the toys and treats, it usually includes materials for an activity or two you can do with your dog. The attached booklet provides detailed instructions on how to work on the problem/teach the trick required for the exercise. Still, if you need more support- they also include a QR code to step-by-step video guides and even more educational videos.
Our experience with the “I Woof You” Kit
This month’s focus was on love and building a better relationship with our dogs, with insights into love from the dog’s perspective. The booklet for this package included info on a new study exploring the dog’s social skills, and it discusses what love means from the dog’s perspective and even recommends a few books if we want to read more on the topic.
The DogByBox we received was packed with supplies and ideas for 4-6 activities, all carefully aligned with the monthly theme. The accompanying booklet provided explanations on how and why to engage in these activities/use the toys to strengthen the relationship with our dogs.
The more challenging activities included supplies for a game of “painting” and teaching tricks with a clicker stick. I enjoyed the detailed instructions for these activities, which gave us the opportunity and motivation to try something new together while improving our communication and problem-solving.
The DogBy Discovery kits are a lot more fun than other subscription boxes with only toys and/or treats. So many times, I find myself out of ideas and motivation on what to do with Zu, and this box gave me the perfect inspiration to try new activities that I would not think about otherwise.
These boxes ship every other month, giving you time to complete and practice all activities and read all materials before jumping on the next theme. I also enjoyed the well-phrased, easy-to-read booklet explaining different theories and research around the topic and how it connected each activity and toy back to the theory they just covered.
Summary
I think DogBy found a niche in the market by offering a combination of educational resources and engaging activities for dogs and their owners. Both the products and packaging were high-quality, well-made, and unique. It really comes through how much thought Lindsey (the founder:) put into creating each box, and I was positively surprised by all the details of this box! :)
